Raised by a musical family, Kaylan is destined for musical greatness and began studying music at the tender age of two. By the time she was seven she had landed her first paying recording session as a singing ‘Snowflake’ on Liz Anderson’s “Fairy Grandmother” CD. From age ten and up until she was seventeen, Kaylan had the honor of singing the National Anthem each year at the March of Dimes Walk-a-thon kickoff ceremony in Nashville, a cause that has always been very near and dear to her heart (being born prematurely herself). By eleven, Kaylan was ready to compete in her first singing contest and took first place in Mark Dreyer’s Talent Search TV, wowing the audience with her powerful and soulful performance of, “His Eye is on the Sparrow”. At fifteen, she became Page High School’s ‘Patriot Idol’, hosted by Gary Chapman, taking the title with her powerful and moving rendition of Rebecca Lynn Howard’s “Forgive”. The next year, being a big American Idol fan and two weeks before her sixteenth birthday, Kaylan decided to audition for Season 8 in Louisville, Kentucky where she landed one of twenty golden Hollywood tickets out of over 10,000 who had tried out there. She was later dubbed on the show as “one of the judges Louisville favorites”. Her audition of “Movin’ On Up’, which is the theme song from the sitcom “The Jeffersons”, was chosen to play as a special treat for the television audience during the ‘Top 12’ show. She valiantly sailed all the way through to the final round in Hollywood, to the group of the top fifty-one to seventy-five, with fierce determination, albeit sore from staples just being removed from an emergency appendectomy that unfortunately occurred just days before the Hollywood rounds would begin, and even as a group performance complete with Jackson 5 dance steps (ouch!) was required of her on the show. Remember the infamous and giggly Tatiana del Toro? Yes, she was in Kaylan’s group. But, Kaylan will tell you what a thrill it was for her to perform three songs on the stage of the Kodak Theatre in front of Simon, Randy, Paula & Kara. Later on in her senior year, Kaylan beautifully and flawlessly played the starring role in Rogers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella at her high school play, and some of her scenes can be found for viewing on YouTube. She also had the extreme honor of singing the National Anthem at her high school graduation as well as for the Nashville Sounds Baseball games on several occasions. At nineteen, she performed a song called “Not All Heroes (Wear A Cape)” on Nashville Fox Network’s “Tennessee Mornings”, as a tribute to Father’s Day.
Now twenty-one, and with 19 years of vocal polishing, Kaylan Loyd has developed in to a diva-like vocal stylist who can draw you in no matter what type of song she is singing. Her voice is pure, it’s sweet, it’s sassy, it’s powerful, it’s perfectly tuned, and when she holds out her high notes with her rich, beautiful tone, goose-bumps are sure to appear. Some of her musical influences include her dad, Gary Loyd, Martina McBride, Kacey Musgraves, Taylor Swift, Christina Aquilera, Rihanna, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Alison Krauss, and more. Not only is Kaylan Loyd a singer’s singer, she is a great songwriter as well and has performed some of her self-penned songs at Frank Brown’s International Songwriters Festival, the Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival, Jim Parker’s Songwriter Series in Huntsville, Alabama, and numerous Nashville songwriter venues including the famous Bluebird Cafe, Douglas Corner CafĂ©, The Listening Room, The Basement, and The Tin Roof. Most recently, Kaylan co-headlined with Daryl Worley and Mark Cooke in Ohio at Kenton Outdoors “Knights of Nashville”, as well as headlined another show with American Idol’s Kendall Phillips in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, where each was presented with their own key to the city.
Kaylan is currently writing and recording her upcoming CD with songs that are sure to put her at the top of the music charts in multi-genres, produced by her dad, Gary Loyd, and Dale Oliver. She is affiliated with SESAC as a songwriter and publisher of Country Girl Swag Music.
